Expedition Sarek 2010 (3 / 3)

By Gadokvàgge (1 day) 11 km, the observatory (1 day) 21 km
The rain had turned to snow and the wind chill outside temperature was well below the freezing point, which slowed down the creep out of the lot. When we were finally ready to leave the sky broke more and more. Wind and sun dried the wet things attached to the backpack in record time. The terrain was much flatter and the willows was always lower.

lunch we looked for a huge rock in the protection of which we lodged a well-deserved break. The panorama that was there opened before us breathtaking, the gate to Sarek . In a vast delta of the Rappaädno opens in Laitàvrre lake. On a line flanked and interrupted by Skierfe the Tjahkkelij and Soubbattjåhkkå, stone guard, which form the border of the national parks to have a herd of reindeer in the foreground and the image was perfect! In the afternoon, the area improved more and the destination, the bridge over the Gadokjåhkkå was quickly reached. This time we found a wind-protected camp and throughout the evening were guarded by very curious and trusting reindeer! Nothing would have made us wake up that night.

five miles further we reached the next morning the foot of the part massif. The beautiful weather encouraged and the classic route over the degree to Observatory to see. The nearly 1,000 meters were handled with a light pack and a full belly in record time. The following migration of the degree was ... rocky. In fact, the entire mountain is only made of loose gravel and the miles! Between ice fields and bizarre rock structures, we crossed these colorful stone desert until we reach the last climb to reach Axel Hamberg Observatory, which sits above the glacier Bårddejiegna came on. Slowly we could see no more stones. The bizarre installations built in 1911 Station invite you to a guessing game about its function. After a quick search and extensive photos, we were also the first visitor of the year, our second Cache. The descent and back eats away at the debris fields of our very nervous and demanded a high level of concentration to avoid falls. Finally, we had our luggage back in the twilight on the back and stairs to the first planar junction. Both dreamed that night of stones!

to the bitter end (1 day) 22 km
Up to Kvikkjokk it was just under 22km and it was clear from the beginning pure that we few miles from our final destination, beer, showers and reindeer-citizens with fries would not be resting again. With almost 22kg luggage, we were now traveling faster and the training of the last days, supported by optimizing nutrition, let us come very quickly in good off-road up to the (abandoned) seeds Parek village. From there we made our way through the maze of small dirt tracks until we were on the right track. A short path brings one of the last mile to the King's Trail. There was even wooden planks over the mud it here ... and small bridges. After a while we were the first people to meet for days, not necessarily Sarekdurchquerer but well-equipped outdoor enthusiasts who wanted a taste of something on the edge of the National Park Adventure Far from the Royal Route. Sometimes, every attempt failed to photograph but a lemming On this day we met a very co-operative specimen which gave us pretty pictures. The reindeer, however, were all strange in this area. The first was more of a disheveled sheep and the two next was so much fun to run through the swamp at full throttle. The last (we were just on food) bounced comfortably around a curve and spied us, stayed 2 seconds to have petrified, made a 180 degree turn when it stumbled and would almost disappeared as the devil himself would be after him. Incredulous, we looked at each other. The spin but the reindeer! Finally we passed the park boundary is marked by an information board. There could read: "... and Sarek large moose ... "Yes, and a very special experience of nature, especially in the rain ... oh we could do it all! At last we met on the highway, uh Kungsleden. may, if time was not even in Sarek is back on the roads. Perhaps in a very remote, but the main routes not want to leave. This is the price! Many hikers are also here to enjoy the beauty of nature, but there are many who get involved, inspired by the general trend outdoor, on a hard between human testing. In particular, the various couples in which a very happy person in front opens the way, followed by his complete amazement and annoyed girlfriend. Particularly exciting is noted on the day where, the flannel shirts that the next brood will not be able to hold! Sure everyone has time to collect small beginnings and his experiences, but rather out of conviction and not because you ride on the wave skis ... In the early evening we arrived in Kvikkjokk. Something had changed here at the mountain station. The Sami family which used the whole head had been replaced by a trendy team and in the entrance area could be in the comfortable armchairs in the lounge staring at the screen trade. So it was no more reason in this flair-free environment to talk to his fellow man ... Too bad! We used the following day at our wait cache and a backup box to install. Then, in the evening, almost by chance came-Miche (Tasaios neighbor) with muggle girlfriend in through the door, hocherstaunt that we were already there. He had picked out as the first tour of the King's Trail, and only after all the independent planning, we had noticed that our paths ran together! Together, we drank a few beers, took another walk, and after 2 days we were glad to finally go towards Kiruna (with a stop in Jokkmokk and Gällivare). Once there we had to manslaughter and were 1.5 days in the enjoyment of drunken miners, but that's another story ... One day we were sitting in the plane to Frankfurt and were happy to arrive at. Just log the caches in recent weeks, the sort 1500 photos and tackle the next tour ... There

Conclusion
In conclusion to the tour, it has a few things to notice. Clearly, save weight always remains the main theme. We definitely had to eat too much here, for the next trip we can go down to 800g/Tag-Person. The absolute no-go was the outdoor cushion with a hole. The common material was already optimized by the previous tours and supplemented with a little luxury was, including the Hautdesensibilisator against mosquito bites. The first-aid bag was indeed difficult but not rationalized, like many things that we have not used but would have been essential in an emergency. Come to the nearly 3 kg photographic equipment, 1 kg of coffee and anti-hum spray, without which it can not start a tour. When planning the time factor was also uncertain. In the end we were too fast, and we should build these days. Our plan was how to cut the tour does not just extend it. Safari and mountain tours are a great addition, with appropriate equipment and a glacier tour ...! Whether the flight to Kiruna was worth is another question. The "Hell Express" train service from Stockholm, we would have been ultimately faster. In particular, the planning phase has previously left little room for unpleasant surprises and you have to over alternative routes and contingency plans are in the clear. If you break his leg three days you have to survive on their own until the other comes back with the Rettungsheli ... are as long as pain killers, etc. .. designed! You have to be very pragmatic in planning and know what you open challenge (although it usually runs so good) then you can enjoy resting in the holidays! Overall the tour was a success but (except for the STF:-P) will hopefully be repeated. So who's tasted blood and wants to explore even the north the I can only recommend this little manual in German language for the Sarek. Finally here a small amount of the tour statistics.
