geocaching without a box ... makes any sense and fun? And how is that even possible? First and foremost, it is to differentiate ... because there are different types of caches, in which no box and no log is available. And arranges for a date I only noticed "curiosity" (at the very end) tell me the whole time to shed light ...
There were and are the following types of virtual caches (ie caches, which was not placed on site):
A Earth cache is a cache type that was created in collaboration with the Geological Society of the United States . Only for about a year, we also tested this by local reviewers. It is subject to special conditions for it to be taught in addition to attending the geologically interesting location and geological knowledge (the pool of neighbors is one such place ;-)). There is no box on the ground here on purpose, because one usually wants to avoid particularly in such sensitive places unnecessary GeoMüll. Since I Earth caches despite the lack of box for a very interesting way to cache think I care for have long bookmark lists of regional Earth caches.
Couch Potato caches it should not really be. This is pure puzzle caches that are available as virtual caches, but do not even have to be visited for a Onlinelog. The Owner accepts in principle Logs, once the home releasable Log conditions is met (usually an answer to a mystery). The general said Virtuals for applies here, and these caches are not really geocaches as such and therefore not allowed . They also led to confusion, which ultimately for the archiving of many "real" virtuals resulted mainly in North America (and lead), there are some Virtual hunters mistakenly expecting that this is not generally must visit.
Waymarking : This not-so-new "sister service" is nothing more than a new site for various types of virtual caches. Currently, almost 300,000 Waymarks exist worldwide. There feedback, the virtual re-integrate to Geocaching (and of course the counterpart do so). I would probably go to this then once again as part of normal cache tours (currently I do not seek it, the effort is to maintain a profile on several pages I simply too big). The way Waymarks be maintained in categories like that is good, so there are now categories for WiFi hotspots, Penny Smashers, or the writing "Kilroy was here". It would be important for me in the event of a reintegration that one can customize the search function itself, so that everyone can decide if / how these new categories will be shown at all.
The benchmarks are not even explained on the Groundspeak-type side, but packed the same in their own bottom benchmarks, virtual caches in a broad sense. One looks in on the marking points of the U.S. land survey. They can therefore be found only in the U.S. and do not count in the statistics the way points. Hunting background of the benchmark should be, to document the presence of the benchmarks. This can occur in very different forms and varying the difficulty to find these caches as well, but is a corresponding rating is not for benchmarks. Usually you do not even need a GPS to find them, even though they are usually very precisely measured and therefore may be relevant for comparing with the GPS indicator of interest.
(reverse) caches Locationless need, I'm just up here no great explanation of everything, because you can not even log them anymore. Basically, it was even about to perform a specific task and log the resulting coordinates, for example "Find a phone box "- and if you have found a was allowed to log the corresponding cache also these caches have migrated to Waymarking But now in my profile the cache Four Windows , which was once a virtual, as a reverse Locationless appeared.. . I had at that time the Locationless caches when they were logbar still shunned and never even a logged, because I am so not make friends somehow could. There is probably some more original Virtual , probably the last part some time ago in Locationless Reverse caches were. And it also seems to give Virtuals which are actually reverse ... but only marginally for those who speculate, perhaps for the icon in the profile to do that this will eventually be changed sometimes ;-) Maybe the whole issue for some, a very old hat because these virtuals in the Archive action many years ago, even a thorn in the side were? I noticed it in any case until today ..
